As one of the eight supporting events of the World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference, the final of the first "Jiangsu Smart Manufacturing" Innovation Competition concluded on December 7 at the World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference venue.

The competition was guided by the Jiangsu Provincial Economic and Information Commission, hosted by the Provincial Enterprise Informatization Association and the Provincial Technical Transformation Association, and co-organized by Sina Jiangsu, Future Network and Runzhan International. It was an important event organized by the province around the "Made in China 2025 Jiangsu Action Plan" and the two major action plans for enterprise manufacturing equipment upgrading and enterprise internetization, and the only professional competition in the province themed on manufacturing transformation and upgrading.

On December 7, the final of the first "Jiangsu Smart Manufacturing" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition came to a close at the Nanjing International Expo Center. The competition was known for its high positioning, strong professional value, wide coverage and high-value awards.

Over the two months, after rigorous formal review and preliminary material screening, 96 projects were selected from the 1,600 entries to compete in regional rounds held in five cities — Nanjing, Suzhou, Changzhou, Yancheng and Xuzhou — with 15 projects ultimately reaching the final.

Among them, the industrial robot motion control system project of iNexBot Nanjing Technology Co., Ltd. stood out from the 15 finalists and won the sole first prize. iNexBot CEO Zhang Xiaolong noted that big-data analysis shows global industrial robot sales have a compound annual growth rate of 17%, and China became the world's largest industrial robot market as early as 2013, with annual sales growth as high as 50%. Unfortunately, the industrial robot market is largely monopolized by foreign brands, with domestic robots — mainly low-end gantry robots — holding an extremely low market share. He said, "Smart manufacturing and smart factories are the product of the integration of industry and IT technology, and the best opportunity for China's robot industry to overtake on the curve." To that end, the iNexBot team's technological innovation fully embodies the integration of IT and industry, holding multiple proprietary technologies and patents in IoT and industrial automation fields including human-machine interaction, sensors, motion control, mechanical optimization design and servo drives. Evaluation expert Professor Xie Junyuan of Nanjing University commented that the project's overall performance has reached an internationally first-class level. Tian Hongqi, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said the project "will surely achieve great things in the wave of intelligentization."

In recent years, Jiangsu has consistently made manufacturing the main focus of its economic and social development, pushing it forward with full effort. As a result, the province's industrial economy has grown substantially, forming a strong, comprehensive and well-structured industrial base with an increasingly prominent role in economic and social development. At the same time, the province has deepened the integration of informatization and industrialization with visible results, achieving breakthroughs and leading the way in many areas. The regional informatization-industrialization integration development index reached 92.17, ranking first in the country for three consecutive years.

This award would not have been possible without the care and recognition of the leaders of the High-Tech Zone and the Zijin Entrepreneurship Special Community. We believe that in the near future, iNexBot will leave its own mark on China's industrial robot and smart manufacturing industry.
