How Should China Develop Its Manufacturing Industry? Industry Experts Weigh In

Co-hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the China Association for Science and Technology, the 2021 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference was held in Nanjing from December 8 to 10. During the conference, leading industry experts unanimously pointed out that, unlike Germany's 'serial' progression from Industry 1.0 to Industry 4.0, China's manufacturing sector should leverage its latecomer advantages and adopt a 'parallel' development path — a technical approach of 'advancing digitalization, networking, and intelligence in parallel and in an integrated manner,' continuously driving 'digital transformation and intelligent upgrading.'
